The island Composter turns organic items into terrain blocks: tiers, compost points, output blocks, hopper setup, Composter Cores and the season reset.
The Composter is an island machine that turns leaves, crops and mob drops into terrain blocks such as dirt, sand, gravel, clay and mud, so your farm leftovers become building material.
Composters reset each season
When a season changes, every Composter drops back to Tier I and its queue and storage are emptied. Stored Composter items become Tier I too.
How it works
Craft a Composter I on the 5x5 grid of the workbench and place it on your island. You can place up to 4 per island. Feed it organic items: each item adds compost points, and once a batch's points are in, the batch cooks into blocks. A Composter accepts up to 12 batches ahead and stores up to 384 finished items. When the storage is full, it stops until you collect.Each finished batch has a 15% chance to add one bonus drop and a 10% chance to add one or two junk items.

Tiers II and III are coin upgrades paid from your island bank. Tier III is the highest tier you can buy with coins. Tiers IV and V are 5x5 recipes with the previous-tier Composter in the centre and 3 Composter Cores.The Composter I recipe uses 30 Hay Bale, 4 Block of Copper, 10 Block of Iron, 32 Dirt, 12 Bone Block and 1 vanilla Composter.Composter Cores are crate prizes in the Dragon, Season, Shadow, Void, Discord Nitro, Battle Pass Premium and Battle Pass Free crates.

The 1-point group also takes dead bush, lily pad, ferns, moss carpet, pink petals, glow lichen, hanging roots and grass block. The 2-point group also takes dried kelp, seagrass, sea pickle, moss block, azalea, dripleaf, tall flowers, sweet and glow berries and spore blossom. The 3-point group also takes spider eye, torchflower seeds and pitcher pod, and the 4-point group mushroom stem.

Tier I also makes coarse dirt, rooted dirt, red sand, moss block and moss carpet. Bonus drops are bone meal, clay balls, seeds, sweet and glow berries and cocoa beans. Junk drops are sticks, flint, poisonous potatoes, rotten flesh, feathers, string, spider eyes, bones, ink sacs and dead bushes.
Hoppers
Up to 5 hoppers feed a Composter: one on top and one on each of the 4 sides. The Composter pulls one stack per input hopper every second. One hopper directly below collects the finished blocks. /island composter blueprint shows the layout.
The island owner and co-op members can always manage Composters. Trusted members need the island flag COMPOSTER_ACCESS.

Tips
What should I feed it?
Hay Bales, Dried Kelp Blocks and mushroom blocks give 4 points each, so they fill a batch fastest. Leaves and seeds give only 1 point.
Should I buy Tier II and III right away?
They cost 1,250,000 and 2,000,000 coins and every Composter returns to Tier I when the season changes. Upgrade early in a season to get the most out of it.
Why did my Composter stop?
Its storage holds 384 finished items. Empty it in the menu or put a hopper directly below it.
Composter recipes and the Green Thumb achievement are on Workbench and recipes, coins for upgrades come from your island bank, and Composter Cores come from crates.
